Discussion

This was one of a number of spits excavated across the top of a sequence of three enclosure ditches (012AD07050, 012AD07210 and 012AD07212), in an attempt to to define their relationships in plan. The fills of all of the ditches was exceptionally uniform, and did not become distinguishable as distinct features until another spit (012AD06213) had been excavated. The material removed was a medium sandy clay loam (Munsell 10YR 3/3), with 10% chalk inclusions. No daub or charcoal flecking were noted. The only objects found were late Roman pot sherds.
